When we think of a champion, we often picture someone standing on a podium, raising a trophy in victory. But what if true championship isn’t about winning for ourselves, but lifting others to victory? In this special episode of the GraceFilled Community Podcast, Onyx Conklin shares her powerful journey of discovering that God's call to be a champion isn’t about personal achievement, but about encouraging and empowering others to reach their full potential. 🙌

The Heart of a True Champion

Onyx's story challenges the world’s definition of success. Too often, we focus on accumulating accolades, but God’s idea of greatness looks different. Mark 9:35 reminds us, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” True champions serve, uplift, and champion for others.

Here are some key takeaways from Onyx’s journey:

✨ Championing isn’t about trophies; it’s about people. Instead of striving for personal recognition, we are called to invest in others, just as Jesus did. A simple word of encouragement, a kind gesture, or a listening ear can change a life.

✨ God often calls the most unlikely people for the greatest impact. Scripture is filled with examples of this—Moses, Gideon, David—people who didn’t see themselves as capable, but whom God used mightily. (1 Corinthians 1:27-28)

✨ Small actions have a big impact. Sometimes, the most meaningful encouragement comes from everyday moments—thanking a cashier, complimenting a stranger, or acknowledging someone’s effort. These seemingly small acts reflect God’s love and can deeply impact someone’s spirit.

✨ Your past experiences shape your ability to champion others. Onyx shares how her personal struggles and pain gave her the ability to connect with and encourage others who face similar battles. God doesn’t waste anything; He uses every part of our story for His purpose (Romans 8:28).

✨ Leadership is about serving. The higher you rise in leadership, the more you are called to serve those around you. Jesus Himself demonstrated this by washing the feet of His disciples, showing that true leadership is rooted in humility and service (John 13:12-17).

✨ You are strategically placed to make an impact. Wherever God has positioned you—your workplace, community, or even online—He has put you there for a purpose. Your role is to be a light and champion for those around you (Matthew 5:14-16).

✨ Trust is essential in leadership. Leading others means trusting God’s placement in your life and trusting the people He has placed around you. A strong leader champions others, building them up to become leaders themselves.
