From Abuse to Overcomer: Finding Your True Identity — Jacqueline Williams' Story
What happens when life tries to define you by pain, abandonment, and trauma — but God steps in and gives you a new name?
In this powerful episode of the GraceFilled Community Podcast, Jacqueline Williams courageously opens up about her journey from being unloved and abused to becoming an overcomer, author, and encourager through Christ. Her story is a testimony of how God can bring beauty from ashes, healing from hurt, and identity out of brokenness.
💡 Overcomer: A Spirit-Inspired Journey of Healing
Jacqueline never set out to write a book. But when her typing teacher reappeared in her life and encouraged her to tell her story, something in her spirit awakened. Through Holy Spirit inspiration and obedience, Jacqueline penned "Overcomer", a deeply moving testimony of how she survived — and triumphed over — childhood abandonment, domestic abuse, health struggles, and repeated rejection.
But her message is clear: “It wasn’t me. It was God’s strength that brought me through.”
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13
🚧 A Childhood Marked by Rejection and Trauma
Jacqueline grew up without her mother’s love and in the shadow of an abusive father. Her search for love led to a cycle of broken relationships and deeper wounds. But rather than become bitter, she sought healing — crying out to God to remove the pain, not just the circumstances.
“God, deliver me. I don’t blame them—I just need inner healing.”
This plea launched her into a long but transformative season of isolation and spiritual reprogramming, where God began to heal her wounded heart and give her a new sense of purpose.
Isolation That Led to Intimacy with God
Through seasons of divine isolation, Jacqueline allowed God to “reprogram” her mind and spirit, like a computer being reset. In those quiet spaces, she encountered the Father’s love — not just intellectually, but experientially.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10
During this time, God taught her to release control and truly give her past to Him. “Letting go” was not a cliche phrase, but a deeply spiritual act of trust.
“We’re not meant to carry those burdens. Give it to God, and don’t take it back.”
🛡️ Finding Her Identity in Christ
As she healed, Jacqueline realized she had long suffered from an identity crisis. It was only through God's Word, spiritual mentorship, and prayer that she began to truly understand her value.
“Once we know who we are and whose we are, we can stand confidently — not in our strength, but in God’s.”
She now teaches that every believer must learn their Kingdom identity:
💬 You are forgiven (Ephesians 1:7)
👑 You are chosen and royal (1 Peter 2:9)
✨ You are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)
💪 You are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37)
These aren't just affirmations—they're weapons of spiritual warfare.
True Healing Isn’t a Quick Fix
One of Jacqueline’s strongest messages is that healing isn’t instant. The faith community often emphasizes "praying it away," but true transformation requires tools like counseling, journaling, Scripture meditation, and accountability.
“Many of us survive trauma, but never address the injury. We have to do more than survive—we have to heal.”
Her book and ministry help others walk through this process with honesty, encouragement, and compassion.
Unlocking the Power Within
God told her, “I already gave you power — what are you going to do with it?”
Too many believers are unaware or unused to the power of the Holy Spirit within them. Jacqueline reminds us that power isn’t just for pastors or prophets—it’s for every child of God.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…” — Acts 1:8
